Bunnings Marketplace and Kmart Marketplace let approved third-party sellers list products on two of Australia's most visited retail websites. Bunnings suits home improvement, garden, outdoor and lifestyle ranges. Kmart suits value-focused home, kids, clothing and everyday products. Both are curated: you apply, and the retailer chooses sellers and ranges that fit its customers. You remain responsible for listings, dispatch and returns.
Why these marketplaces matter
Bunnings and Kmart have something pure marketplaces cannot buy: a huge, stable base of regular shoppers. Roy Morgan describes Bunnings, Kmart and BIG W as dominant and stable in 2025, with shopper numbers up 2% for Bunnings and 3% for Kmart (Roy Morgan, 2026). In Wesfarmers' results, Bunnings ranks as the most trusted brand in Australia and Kmart third, according to Roy Morgan's Risk Monitor survey.
Wesfarmers is putting more weight behind third-party range. Across the Bunnings and Kmart marketplaces it reports more than 400,000 additional online SKUs and more than 700 additional online sellers as at 30 June 2026 (Wesfarmers, 2026). After winding down Catch as a standalone business and moving its fulfilment centres to Kmart Group, the group's marketplace activity now sits inside its core retail brands.
Bunnings Marketplace
Bunnings Marketplace has grown steadily since launch. In FY25 it continued to deliver double-digit sales growth, and Bunnings also launched a services marketplace connecting customers to trades (Wesfarmers, 2025). By the end of FY26, the marketplace had more than 300,000 SKUs and 600 sellers, and Wesfarmers also reported the launch of a Bunnings commercial marketplace (Wesfarmers, 2026).
Who it suits: brands and retailers in tools, hardware, garden, outdoor living, furniture, storage, cleaning, pet, automotive and home improvement, particularly ranges that extend what Bunnings already carries.
How to join: Bunnings takes expressions of interest through its seller interest page, and a marketplace representative follows up. Sellers get a dedicated team covering onboarding, account management, technical support and customer service (Bunnings, 2026).
What to prepare: detailed specifications such as dimensions, materials, power source and compatibility, which home improvement shoppers rely on. You also need dependable freight for heavy and bulky goods, and a returns process that meets Bunnings' customer expectations.
Kmart Marketplace
Kmart launched its third-party marketplace during FY26. Wesfarmers lists it as one driver of Kmart's digital sales growth of 19.7% in the second half of FY26, alongside an app with more than 1.6 million monthly active users (Wesfarmers, 2026).
The customer-facing model is clear. Kmart takes payment on the seller's behalf, but sellers are responsible for the product, including listing content, delivery and returns (Kmart, 2026). Marketplace items carry a "Sold and shipped by" label, cannot be returned in Kmart stores, and change-of-mind returns go to the seller within 30 days, subject to exclusions.
Who it suits: sellers whose range extends Kmart's own, such as home, kids, toys, outdoor, fitness and seasonal products, at prices that fit Kmart's value positioning.
What to watch: Kmart shoppers expect low prices. Model your margin carefully after commission and delivery. Make sure returns and customer enquiries can be handled quickly, because the customer sees Kmart's brand even when you fulfil the order.
Operational standards for both
Retailer marketplaces protect their brand by holding sellers to service standards. Expect requirements for:
- Accurate, near real-time stock levels, so shoppers are not sold items you cannot ship.
- Dispatch within your stated handling time, with valid tracking uploaded promptly.
- Fast responses to customer messages and return requests.
- Listings that follow the marketplace's content and image rules.
Sellers who fall short risk lower visibility or removal. Our account health guide covers the metrics that matter most.
Choosing between them, or doing both
The two marketplaces overlap less than you might think. Bunnings shoppers are often planning a project and compare specifications closely, so detailed attributes and clear compatibility information matter most. Kmart shoppers browse for value and inspiration, so price, strong images and a clear range story matter more. If your range spans both, such as outdoor furniture, storage or pet products, you can run both from one stock pool. Each listing just needs to be tailored to its audience. Our guide to choosing your next marketplace has a fuller framework.

FAQ
Can small businesses sell on Bunnings Marketplace?
Yes, if your range fits Bunnings' customers and you can meet its service standards. Bunnings selects sellers through an application process rather than open registration.
Who handles returns on Kmart Marketplace?
The seller. Kmart's FAQ states that marketplace items cannot be returned in store and customers arrange returns directly with the seller, within Kmart's marketplace returns policy and the Australian Consumer Law.
Are these marketplaces open to overseas sellers?
Both programs are curated, and the retailer decides who to accept. Local stock and fast domestic delivery generally strengthen an application, because shoppers expect Australian delivery times.
